     About us

Anima Investimentos was created in 2011. Our brand is associated with Pedro Passos' business journey at Natura. Anima is mandated to make good long-term investments while significantly contributing to society.

We invest in Brazilian and global companies with an open-ended approach. We seek to actively communicate with clients, executives and advisors of these companies and with market specialists. Whenever possible, we work to align long term visions with that of other shareholders.

Our portfolio has few investments (~20 companies and some funds), low turnover and reduced costs. We nurture a virtuous relationship between low number of companies, long investment horizon and high density of knowledge resulting from the interactions with each of these companies over the years. We believe in geographic diversification as an smart way to mitigate risks. Our holdings include Natura, Raia Drogasil, Alphabet, Mastercard and Microsoft.

We prioritize invest the resources generated by the portfolio in companies with clear competitive advantages, secular growth, a history of successful capital allocation, robust governance, competent administrators, good stakeholders management and a consistent corporate culture.

Originally, in Latin, the word anima meant “to blow, air, and breeze”. Over time, it acquired the meaning of “vital principle and soul”.

Our business history has long taught us that companies are living, dynamic organisms made up of relationships that, if well cared for, become a source of innovation, economic value, and progress for society.

Creating value requires companies and their stakeholders to make a true commitment to customers, employees, communities, society, the environment, and business partners.

Since the beginning, our investment philosophy at Anima has always driven us to invest in companies with a long-term perspective, which has been forged into a guiding value for our plans and characterizes our culture.

But what is a long-term perspective?

In general, investors refer to the long term as an antidote to the temptations and fluctuations of the moment. Patient capital denotes a passive attitude, almost celebrating the virtue of being able to wait, of not being influenced by opportunism or fortuitous waves.

However, at Anima, the long term translates into investments with no horizon for sale and goes hand in hand with active and constructive attitudes, building deep relationships, broadening knowledge, and continuously improving our decision-making process. This philosophy exists within a few dimensions of our daily lives:

1.
We invest globally, in a concentrated manner, in a handful of companies and view them holistically while incorporating into our analysis elements such as business models, capital allocation, governance, culture, purpose, and shared value with society and the environment. We see people and their values as decisive criteria;

2.
We support companies with knowledge and capital, always working collaboratively, seeking to understand, build, and even challenge;

3.
We are a partnership. Our learning dynamics, our decision-making process, and our incentives are designed from the perspective of long-term shared value;

4.
We connect intensely with economic, business, and social development players in Brazil and globally. They are people with innovative concepts, who challenge us, and with whom we make joint investments.

Thus, Anima invests in and contributes to society with respect for others and seeks the best standards of conduct and continuous improvement in everything it does.
